Today we explore the beautiful city of Pondicherry, we view Auroville and visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry Museum, Ayee Mandapam - Park Monument (Bharathi Park), Vinayagar Temple, French War Memorial and Catholic Church - Notre Dame des Anges Church. In the evening we take a wonderful heritage walk in the French colonies as well as along Promenade Beach.
Designed and planned in an ornate French style in 1826, the Pondicherry Botanical Garden is a natural home to more than 1500 species of plants. An interesting element about the garden is that every species of the plant holds a placard stating its common name, information about the species, its uses, medicinal value and the amount of oxygen generated by the plant. Situated 8 km from Pondicherry, Chunnambar is known for its scenic views, silently flowing waters and lush green beauty. Paradise Beach at Chunnambar is an ideal place for sunbathing and indulging in some exciting beach sports. Located very close to the mouth of the backwaters, it is an ideal spot to enjoy a boat cruise while witnessing the sight of playful dolphins swimming freely. When you have had your fill of the cultural delights of Pondicherry, a visit to Chunnambar offers a change of pace.
Today we proceed to Mahabalipuram - historically important town situated on the Coromandel Coast, along the Bay of Bengal in the state of Tamil Nadu. We visit the most famous Shore Temple, legendary Pancha Rath, exquisite Varah Caves, awe-inspiring Arjuna's Penance and fascinating Krishna's Butter Ball.
